Brief description of the work:
Ultra-Fast Broadband is being rolled out across the country and Blackley Construction has been contracted by Downer to install duct in various areas of both Palmerston North and Masterton.
The works involves the installation of a special duct or ducts on either side of every street. At every second boundary a pillar box is installed for later connection to the houses. There are also jointing pits and cabinets to be installed. The project has been built on a cabinet by cabinet basis across the city.
The Trenchless Technology and vacuum excavation equipment has been employed throughout the project allowing work to be done more efficiently, cleanly and with less disruption to the surrounding community.
Residents have commented on the tidy sites both during and after the installation. We aimed to minimise disruption for all concerned and maintain good site housekeeping practices.
The project rollout has been carried out at a significant pace which has seen up to 20 staff working on the project at one time.
