RURALForest Enterprises – Forestry Road & Culverts

Blackley Construction spent 6 months working in Te Wharau in the Wairarapa, building forestry roading. This work was carried out to a harvest schedule to enable the timely harvesting of the separate forestry blocks. The work included de-stumping the proposed road alignment, cut to fill with on-site material to form a suitable road sub base, the Installation of various size culverts was carried out including 450mm and 1000mm diameter plastic as well as a 2m x 2m twin box culvert to resource consent requirements.

Metal was blasted at an onsite metal pit and then loaded onto trucks for placement on the forestry roading. This metal was placed and compacted to form a usable road for the logging trucks and other associated forest traffic. Because of the location of the project our employees were required to stay away from home. The road formation was 7m wide with a 4m width metalled to 300mm deep.
