Blackley Construction have announced a changing of the guard in company ownership, with eldest son and current Managing Director and Operations Manager Kevin Blackley and Business Manager Nicola Ross taking over full ownership of Blackley Construction and Blackley Equipment on 21 December 2018.
The Blackley name has featured strongly in trenching and drainage work in the Manawatu region and further afield over many years since the business started operating in the 1960’s.
Blackley Construction was responsible for the turf and drainage work at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium, and has been involved in laying hundreds of kilometres of drainage tiles and plastic drainage pipe for our rural clients and, pipework and power ducting around the region for our civil clients. They have also installed underground cabling for many windfarm projects around New Zealand.
This proud history is an integral part of the new Blackley Construction company structure going forward. “We will see our local teams honouring our traditions while continuing to provide the excellent service and solutions we have become known for.
Our focus will remain on rural drainage, general farm work, effluent ponds, and cable trenching, pipework and other civil infrastructure groundworks.” says new owner Kevin Blackley.
In recent years the company structure included other family members, who are now stepping back from ownership. Alan Blackley will continue as a key member of the Blackley workshop team, while Steven Blackley has decided to pursue other interests.
Kevin and his team are looking to achieve maximum development potential, while providing the best possible services to their customers. All staff were offered the opportunity to transfer to the new company, so skilled personnel have been retained and will now dedicate their services to the new company.
“Our staff have been kept up to date with the planned ownership changes.” says Business Manager, Nicola Ross, “And we are proud to still be a locally owned family business employing local people for the good of the region.”
“We believe Blackley’s has a bright future ahead, and the size and potential of our current and upcoming projects reflects that strong confidence,” adds Kevin Blackley. “While much of our attention will focus on providing solutions to support local councils, infrastructure companies, farmers and other landowners, we know that technology requirements, and health and safety practices are paramount, and we aim to be on the top of this transformation.”
For Blackley customers it’s business as usual, and all contact details remain the same, but the team has their eye firmly on the future and building on the family legacy.
