History Behind the Blackley Group
Graeme Blackley started contracting in 1960 with a David Brown tractor and a towed excavator doing farm drainage and mowing in the Wairarapa. Graeme and his wife moved to the Manawatu in 1965 and in 1969, they shifted to Stoney Creek Road and established the company's existing depot that now comprises a house, offices, workshop and Vehicle Park.
The Stoney Creek Road base is just a few kilometres north of Palmerston North, well located to service its rural and urban-based clients.
Since those early days, the company has grown, developed, diversified and specialised. Each of the different sections of the company is now supervised by one of Graeme's sons.
In 2010 Blackley Construction Ltd will be proudly celebrating their 50th year in the construction industry.
